5 Ways You Can Use Twitter to Grow Your Business

Twitter has been around since 2006, so it’s not exactly new technology anymore.

However, many people are still unaware of all the features and benefits the site offers, and they don’t realize how they can use Twitter to their advantage in their personal or business lives.

Here are 5 ways you can use Twitter to help grow your business.

1. Tweet
It’s much easier to share links with followers on Twitter than it is on Facebook. If you come across a relevant and useful piece of content, you can tweet it to your followers in less than a minute. This makes sharing simple and effective, which results in more engagement, brand awareness, and traffic for your website. It’s one of my favorite ways to use Twitter.

2. Engage with your audience
Just like any good relationship, a business relationship requires two sides to give and take. Sure, you’re providing a service or product that other people value. But when you engage with your audience on social media, you give them an opportunity to share their feedback with you directly. When your customers know that they can get in touch with you if there’s a problem or if they have a question about your product, it builds trust between you both.

3. Promote your own content
Aside from just sharing content with your followers, look for ways to promote your own content as well. This could mean posting a great link you’ve discovered, or creating a cool infographic and tweeting it out. Giving back by promoting other people’s work is one of the best ways to gain trust among your audience – which means they’ll be more likely to engage with your own content in return.

4. Link back to your blog
When someone takes a look at your Twitter page, you want them to immediately be directed back to your site. This will help build trust, and it will give them an idea of what types of content you write about. If you’re new on Twitter, don’t overwhelm your followers with tweets about every little thing that happens in your business or personal life.

5. Provide value through retweeting others
Retweeting others, at least once a day, is a great way to provide value in your industry and grow your own following. Make sure you have others that follow you and are interested in what you’re talking about, but don’t be afraid to retweet posts from businesses or individuals outside of your niche—it provides a sense of relevance for those following you and can lead to new connections. Retweeting pictures and infographics is also a great way to get value out of twitter for your business.
